Search equipment for cable and overhead power lines

The POISK-2016 receiver (hereinafter referred to as the receiver) is designed to search for damage of any type in any power cables with a voltage of 0.4-35 kV by electro-acoustic and induction methods.

The text uses the following terminology and abbreviations:

• MP - place of cable damage;

• GOZ - a dead single-phase short circuit of the cable core to the sheath (a short circuit in which there is no spark in the presence of voltage on the cable, and the transition resistance of the MP is within 0-1 Ohm);

• IP - spark breakdown of the cable core to the sheath (breakdown in which there is a spark in the presence of voltage on the cable, the transient resistance of the MP exceeds 10 Ohm, and the breakdown voltage is within 1-50 kV);

• GAUV - generator of acoustic shock waves (high-capacity electric high-voltage capacitor, periodically discharged onto the tested cable);

• GZCH - audio frequency generator;

• LCD is a liquid crystal graphic indicator (display) used in the receiver.

The receiver can be used:

• to determine by the electroacoustic method the location of damage to underground power cables in case of spark breakdown of the core to the sheath (MP type IP);

•  to determine by the electroacoustic method the location of damage to underground power cables with a blind single-phase short circuit of the cable core to the sheath (MP type GOZ);

• for solving the problem of choosing a specific cable from a bundle of open cables using the electro-acoustic method;

• determining the places of poor contact of the sheath with the cable box;

• determination of the cable route and search for the place of damage by the induction method;

• determining the depth of the cable;

• determination of the place of leakage in the insulation of the XLPE cable sheath or gas pipeline by a potential method at DC and AC voltage;

• determination of the place of leakage in the insulation of the core of the low-voltage cable to the ground by a potential method.

The receiver is designed to work as part of mobile electrical laboratories, which include a generator of electroacoustic shock waves (GAUV) with the following parameters:

•  storage capacity for determining the location of damage of the type GOZ-300 - 400 uF. at a charging voltage of 5-10 kV;

•  pulse frequency 0.2-1 Hz.

This variant of GAUV is suitable for searching for damage such as GOZ.

To determine the damage of the MT type - the storage capacity can be reduced to 1-5 μF.

In addition, for tracing the cable under test (i.e. determining the route of laying the cable on the ground), an audio frequency generator with a power of at least 20 W with silicified frequencies from 160 to 10000 Hz is required (for example, a GZCH-2500 generator).

To determine the locations of damage in cables of the phase-to-phase circuit type, you will need an audio frequency generator with a frequency of 160-10000 Hz, with a power of 100 W (for example, GZCH-2500).

The receiver is designed for operation in field conditions in the range of ambient temperatures from -20 to +40 ^о С, relative humidity up to 85% and pressure from 600 to 800 mm Hg. Art.

NOTE. The lower limit of the operating temperature is determined by the performance at this temperature of the LCD and the power supply.

High-voltage oscillographic reflectometer "ISKRA-3M" (hereinafter referred to as the device) is designed to determine the distance to the place of damage to communication cables and power supply cables.

The device allows:

• to detect and determine the distance to the place of damage or inhomogeneity by the location (reflectometric) method on symmetrical and asymmetrical cables;
• measure the length of cables (including on drums and in coils) or the distance to the point of breakage or short circuit;
• memorize, store and process measurement results;
• as part of a mobile electrical laboratory, determine the distance to damage in cables up to 12 km in length for all types of damage without using preliminary complete insulation burnout.

The device allows to save 4 groups of measurements (up to 15 reflectograms in each) in the built-in nonvolatile memory, as well as save them on a computer for further analysis and accounting. (This function is implemented according to the individual requirement of the customer).

The OTDR is intended for indoor use (in particular, in covered vehicles) under the following conditions:

• ambient temperature range, ^о С - from minus 10 to +40;
• relative humidity at a temperature of 25 C - up to 80%;
• atmospheric pressure, mm. rt. Art. - 650 - 800;

High-voltage stand for burning defective cable insulation SVP is designed for burning defective cable insulation with its subsequent afterburning.

Terms of Use:  

• ambient temperature range, ^о С - from minus 20 to +40;

• relative air humidity at 25 C - up to 80%;
• atmospheric pressure, mm Hg Art. - 650 - 800

The power supply of the SVP is made from an industrial single-phase network 220V, 50 Hz. Power is allowed from an autonomous power supply generator with a capacity of at least 4.0 kVA. To fully realize the capabilities of the TDS, the generator power must be at least 25 kVA.

The GZCH-2500 audio frequency generator is designed to search for places of damage to power cable power supply lines.

          Terms of Use:  

• ambient temperature range, ^о С - from minus 20 to +40;
• relative air humidity at 25 C - up to 80%;
• atmospheric pressure, mm. rt. Art. - 650 - 800

The place of operation must be free from vapors of aggressive liquids (acids and alkalis).

The receiver for searching for faults in P-806 cables is intended for:

• to search for the route, places of damage to the interphase insulation and the depth of the high-voltage power cables by the induction method;
• to search for places of damage to high-voltage power cables using the acoustic method.
• for detecting leaks in the insulation of underground power supply cables that do not have a metal sheath, a potential method using non-contact potential sensors.

When searching by the induction method, the receiver must be operated in conjunction with an additional generator of continuous oscillations of any form with a frequency of 1024 ± 2 Hz and 2048 ± 4 Hz, providing an output power of at least 200 W in the load range from 0.5 to 200 Ohm (for example, GZCH-1000, GZCH-2500).

 When searching by the acoustic method, the receiver should be operated in conjunction with an additional generator of powerful pulses with a voltage of 5-10 kV and an energy in a pulse of 150-1000 J, following with an interval of several seconds (for example, GAUV-5).

The receiver is intended for operation in field conditions in the range of ambient temperatures from minus 20 to +40 ^o С, relative humidity up to 85% and pressure from 600 to 800 mm Hg. Art.

NOTE. The lower limit of the operating temperature is determined by the operability at this temperature of the power supply and the LCD.

The POMZ-3 receiver is designed to detect the location of a single-phase ground fault of overhead power lines 6-35 kV, radially branched type with a capacitive ground fault current of more than 1 A.

The receiver can also be used to trace the route of a ground cable with voltage from 0.4 to 35 kV under current.

It is possible to determine underground structures, structures, pipelines under the influence of cathodic protection (when a cathodic current containing a 100 Hz harmonic is applied). 

The receiver displays the relative change in the level of the electric field of the fundamental frequency (50 Hz) and generates a warning visual signal when the field level exceeds 500 V / m.

The TKI tube cable detector (hereinafter referred to as the device) is designed to search and detect extended metal underground communications (power cables and metal pipelines).

Applications - construction, energy, utilities.

The device allows you to make sure that there are no pipelines or high-voltage cables on the site being developed before excavation, damage to which can lead to emergency situations and accidents.

The device is designed for operation in field conditions in the range of ambient temperatures from minus 20 to 40 ^о С, relative humidity up to 85% and pressure from 600 to 800 mm Hg. Art.

The device allows:

• to detect and determine the distance to the place of damage or inhomogeneity by the location (reflectometric) method on symmetrical and asymmetrical cables;
• measure the length of cables (including on drums and in coils) or the distance to break or short circuit;
• memorize, store and process measurement results;
• as part of a mobile electrical laboratory, determine the distance to damage in cables up to 15.3 km (35 km) in length for all types of damage without using the preliminary complete burning of the insulation.

An OTDR allows you to determine the distance to the cable breakdown using low and high voltage using the following methods:

• TDR (low voltage pulse method);
• ICE (high voltage current coupled oscillatory discharge method);
• Decay (voltage coupled high voltage oscillatory discharge method);
• ARC (high voltage pulsed arc method).
